International Treaties & Liability Limitations (Montreal & Warsaw Systems)
Passengers embarking upon a journey involving an ultimate destination or stop in a country other than the country of departure are advised that international treaties known as the Montreal Convention or its predecessor, the Warsaw Convention System, may govern the liability of air carriers:
Bodily Injury or Death
Subject to the strict liability standards outlined under the governing convention.
Baggage Destruction, Loss, or Damage
Liability is limited under the Montreal Convention to 1,288 Special Drawing Rights (SDR) per passenger in most international circumstances, unless a higher excess valuation is declared prior to travel with supplementary fees paid to the carrier.
Flight Delay Damages
Liability for provable damage occasioned by passenger transit delay is capped at 5,346 SDR under Montreal Convention regulations.

These conditions cover check-in deadlines, baggage allowances, baggage transfer liability, schedule modifications, aircraft substitutions, and denied-boarding compensation policies.
